Cost Plus World Market Invited To Participate In Dalai Lama’s Appearance In Indiana May 14
(OAKLAND, CA; April 29, 2010) — Cost Plus World Market (www.worldmarket.com) is honored and humbled by the opportunity to partner with the Indiana Buddhist Center by providing rugs to be used on stage during His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s upcoming appearance in Indianapolis, IN. His Holiness will be speaking to a crowd of thousands at Conseco Fieldhouse on Friday, May 14 on the subject of “Facing Challenges with Compassion & Wisdom.”
The May 14 event is hosted by The Tibetan & Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center, Interfaith Hunger Initiative and Indiana Buddhist Center; three organizations who are working together to forge a new partnership to meet the needs of persons experiencing poverty and hunger in Central Indiana and Kenya. The Center chose two of World Market’s Monroe Lotus Rugs, made in India, for the Dalai Lama’s appearance. After the rugs are used on stage, they are considered sacred and will then be cut to create prayer mats for the Indiana Buddhist Center in Indianapolis, IN.
Besides being the spiritual leader of Tibet, His Holiness The Dalai Lama is also the author of dozens of religious and self-help books, from The Art of Happiness to The Universe in a Single Atom, published in multiple languages. A man of peace, His Holiness was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 and the first Nobel Laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems. He’s been named to Time magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential People” and currently travels the world to meet with presidents, prime ministers, and crowned rulers of major nations. In each of these visits he sends a message of peace, non-violence, inter-religious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion.
