New Site Designed to Improve Customer Shopping Experience

OAKLAND, Calif.; August 20, 2012—Cost Plus World Market is thrilled to announce the launch of a newly designed and upgraded eCommerce site (, which implements new tools and capabilities to improve the shopping experience. The new Facebook integration allows customers to post a comment on the site or click the “like” button on a product that will automatically post to the customer’s Facebook page and appear on World Market’s site, providing real-time feedback and comments that can also easily be shared with other Facebook friends.

With a team of buyers who travel the world discovering new products to bring to the customer, the new Inspiration & Solutions pages give the customer a look into the inspiration behind a collection, stories and histories behind products and staff picks. In addition, the site offers tips and tools on home decorating, entertaining and gift giving through photos and videos.

With an ever-changing assortment of merchandise, World Market’s eCommerce site has increased the number of unique and affordable items it offers to better reflect the assortment across all departments, including furniture, home décor, bedding and tabletop. Through the online shop, the customer will also be able to order merchandise that may not be able to be carried in stores, which includes expanded product lines, additional colors and finishes and more.

Increased Product Detail
Because many consumers “pre-shop” online before purchasing in stores, has improved product photography with the ability to zoom in to see details of the product down to the texture of the fabric and the craftsmanship found in artisan pieces. In addition, the product detail pages include expanded product information including origin of the item, materials, dimensions and customer reviews and ratings.
