Retailer to Offer Exclusive Licensed Merchandise and Sweepstakes for Trip to London With Private Tour of Highclere Castle

OAKLAND, Calif., December 2, 2013—Cost Plus World Market® ( is thrilled to announce its partnership with NBCUniversal in the premiere of the fourth season of Julian Fellowes’s award-winning series Downton Abbey® in the United States on January 5, 2014.  As part of the partnership, World Market has developed a line of licensed Downton Abbey products, including Christmas crackers, wrapping paper, a unique ceramic teapot, teacups and dessert plates, holiday sweets and more, just in time for holiday gift giving.

Set in the country estate of Downton Abbey, the hit series follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era. The original drama series has become one of the most popular and successful television shows out of the U.K.  World Market VP of Marketing, John Wight, stated, “Cost Plus World Market is a natural fit to partner with Downton Abbey to produce a line of unique licensed products. Developed by the retailer, World Market’s exclusive line of licensed products are currently in stores and online at, and range in price from $4.50 to $29.99. In addition to the ceramic teapot, teacups with saucers and dessert plates, the specialty retailer will also carry the traditional holiday crackers and holiday wrapping paper. The exclusive collection also includes the Downton Estate Blend, a lovely Earl Grey black tea with vanilla from The Republic of Tea®, and Downton Abbey Luxury Assorted Shortbread Tin, Mincemeat Tarts and Plum Pudding Tin from Walkers ®. In select stores, Downton Abbey Claret and Downton Abbey Blanc wines will be available for purchase.
