Specialty Retailer Launches Sweepstakes to Win Trip to Paris

OAKLAND, Calif., July 22, 2014—Cost Plus World Market® (www.worldmarket.com) is thrilled to announce a new sweepstakes in celebration of the theatrical release of the culinary adventure, “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” in theaters on August 8, 2014. Based on the best-selling, critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by Richard C. Morais, “The Hundred-Foot Journey” is directed by Academy Award®-nominated director Lasse Hallström (“My Life as a Dog,” “The Cider House Rules,” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”) and produced by Academy Award-winner Steven Spielberg, Academy Award-nominee Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake.

“The Hundred-Foot Journey” follows the Kadam family as they’re displaced from their native India until they settle in the quaint village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val in the South of France, where the family opens an Indian restaurant, Maison Mumbai. The new restaurant’s location just happens to be one hundred feet from Le Saule Pleureur, a Michelin-starred classical French restaurant run by Madame Mallory (Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren). Young chef Hassan Kadam (Manish Dayal) is a culinary ingénue and after some icy protests against the new Indian restaurant, Madame Mallory sees the talent of the young Hassan and eventually takes the chef under her wing.

Inspired by the movie’s themes, World Market is launching a sweepstakes in which customers can enter for a chance to win a culinary adventure to Paris at www.worldmarketsweepstakes.com now through August 15, 2014. One lucky grand prize-winner will win airfare and accommodations for two, a one-day private cooking class at Le Cordon Bleu Paris, dinner at the Eiffel Tower and a Seine river cruise, a historical tour of Paris, and a $1000 World Market gift card. In addition, a $500 World Market gift card will be awarded to three runners-up.

The specialty retailer is also partnering with celebrity chefs Ryan Scott and Aarti Sequeria to create multi-course menus of French and Indian cuisine recipes using an assortment of gourmet food items available at World Market. The recipes will be available online at www.worldmarketrecipes.com. San Francisco-based Chef Ryan Scott, host of Live Well Network’s “Food Rush” and participant in “Top Chef Season 4,” will pull from his French cooking experience from stints at Daniel Boulud’s Daniel restaurant in New York to create a unique French menu. Chef Aarti Sequeria, winner of Season 6 of “Food Network Star” and host of “Aarti Party” on The Food Network, was born in Mumbai, and she will create dishes with a distinctly Indian influence.
